This Nutrafin test kit measures the carbonate hardness (KH) and total hardness (GH) of water in freshwater and saltwater aquariums. Carbonate hardness should be analyzed regularly, as its level fluctuates over time and can negatively influence the pH balance of the water. Low carbonate hardness limits plant growth.
It is important to analyze the total hardness of the water to ensure that the calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) levels are appropriate for particular fish species.
